WILLIAMS PLANS TRIP TO GETTYSBURG TO HONOR VETERANS HARRISBURG, FEB. 20 – State Sen. Connie Williams invites veterans of the 17th Senatorial District, their spouses and widows and widowers of veterans on a special trip she is planning to Gettysburg National Military Park on May 17th. "The brave men and women who proudly marched off to serve their country are an important part of what made the United States what it is today," Williams said. "I have planned a free trip to view one of Pennsylvania's venerable military legacies – Gettysburg National Military Park. I hope local veterans will think about spending this Armed Services Day – May 17th – with old friends, making new friends and accepting this token of appreciation for their bravery and selflessness." According to Williams, buses will transport attendees to and from Gettysburg National Military Park, where guided tours have been arranged. Lunch will be provided. Buses will depart by 7:30 a.m. from several locations: Haverford Middle School (staff parking lot D), Plymouth Meeting Mall (Hickory Road side) and Upper Merion Senior Center. Buses will return to the district at approximately 5 p.m. People interested in attending are asked to contact one of Williams' district offices at either 610-992-9790 (King of Prussia) or 610-853-5433 (Havertown). To reserve a seat on the bus, people will need to provide the names of the attendees, an address where information can be mailed, a telephone number and an e-mail address (if one is available). More details, including the hour people will be asked to arrive at the bus stops, will be provided closer to the event. Williams has planned this trip in conjunction with state Rep. Daylin Leach (D-Montgomery). Space is limited. People are asked to call early to reserve their seat(s). |
