STATE FUNDS RETURNED TO AREA FOR MOSQUITO PROGRAM HARRISBURG, APRIL 19 – State Sen. Connie Williams announced that state funds were returned to Montgomery and Delaware County as part of the state’s Mosquito Surveillance Program. Montgomery County was awarded a $144,564 grant and Delaware County, was awarded a $149,115 grant. “Since the inception of this important community health grant program, Pennsylvania has been successful in educating the public and preventing the spread of West Nile Virus,” Williams said. “This is an excellent example of local government partnering with state government to address a potential health hazard in a proactive way.” The funds will be used to implement mosquito monitoring and West Nile Virus surveillance programs in the counties and to assist in alerting residents about the potential threat of the virus.
