SENATOR WILLIAMS ANNOUNCES DEADLINES FOR 2002-03 STATE GRANTS

HARRISBURG, April 24, 2002 - State Senator Constance H. Williams, (D-Montgomery/Delaware),today announced the deadlines for students applying to the Pennsylvania State Grant Program.

The State Grant Program provides grant aid to applicants who demonstrate financial need and attend a PHEAA-approved postsecondary educational institution.

The following are deadlines dates for students who wish to seek Pennsylvania State Grant Program aid:

May 1, 2002

All students seeking to renew their State Grant aid regardless of their program of study, and

All other applicants for Bachelor degree programs including those enrolling in college transfer programs at two-year community or junior colleges

August 1, 2002

All students seeking State Grant aid for the first time who plan to enroll in business or trade schools, hospital schools of nursing or two-year terminal (non transferable) programs at community or junior colleges

"Every dollar the General Assembly appropriates for the State Grant Program goes directly to students since PHEAA pays all costs to administer the program at no expense to taxpayers," Williams said.
