STATE GRANT AWARDED TO MONTGOMERY COUNTY

HARRISBURG, May 1 – State Sen. Connie Williams announced that Montgomery County was awarded a state grant to revise a county management plan.

The $200,000 grant, awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, will be used to reimburse 80 percent of the costs to revise the county’s solid waste management plan.

“This is a good example of how the state can work with the county and its residents to protect the environment and ensure a good quality of life for everyone,” Williams said. “What is essentially a local management issue, affects all Pennsylvanians. The overall environmental quality that all Pennsylvanians enjoy is truly a product of the efforts of local municipalities and counties.”

The grant was awarded under the state’s County Planning Grant Program of Act 101 of 1988.
