WILLIAMS ANNOUNCES SAFE WATER GRANT PROGRAM FOR UPPER MERION TOWNSHIP

HARRISBURG, May 8, 2002 - - State Senator Connie Williams today announced that a grant will soon be awarded to Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, under the Projects to Assure Safe Water grant program.

The grant of $150,000 will be used to stabilize the stream bank and remove a dam to restore the site at Sumner Park at Gulph Creek and Balligomingo Road.

"Natural occurrences such as terrible hurricanes and flooding have had a disastrous impact on Upper Merion Township," Williams (D-Montgomery/Delaware) said.

"I am delighted that the township has received this grant."
