RECYCLING GRANTS AWARDED

HARRISBURG, MAY 23 – State Sen. Connie Williams highlighted the continued opportunity to protect the environment in announcing that state grants had been awarded for recycling efforts in the 17th District.

“Recycling, composting and finding alternative ways to handle waste will ensure a healthier environment for the future,” Williams said. “No one can take for granted the availability of natural resources. The good news is that everyone can help to make a difference by pitching in at their own home or business.”

More than $500,000 was recently awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to aid recycling efforts as follows:

  • Plymouth Township -- $305,000 to augment the township’s yard waste composting program (Whitemarsh Township also participates in this program).

  • Delaware County Solid Waste Authority -- $242,999 to enhance the countywide drop-off recycling system. Participating municipalities include Radnor Township.

Grants were awarded under the Recycling Development and Implementation Grant Program of Act 101 of 1988.
