HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP RECEIVES GRANT TO HELP BUILD SKATE PARK HARRISBURG, May 28, 2003 - State Senator Connie Williams (D-Montgomery/Delaware) today announced that Haverford Township recently received a $5,000 grant that will help fund the building of an in-line skate/skateboard skate park, which will be located on the basketball court at Veterans Field. Williams said that the Veterans Field site was chosen because it is centrally located. “Skating is a popular sport for the children of Haverford Township and there currently is no safe environment for them to practice their sport,” Williams said. “I am pleased that Haverford Township received this grant which will help to give riders a place to skate other than on township streets and sidewalks.” The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development awarded the funding through its community-development projects program. |
