GRANT AWARDED TO OAKMONT FIRE COMPANY FOR RESCUE EQUIPMENT AND PROTECTIVE GEAR HARRISBURG, May 28, 2003 - State Senator Connie Williams (D-Montgomery/Delaware) today announced that the Oakmont Fire Company No. 1 has been awarded a $5,000 grant for the reconditioning and replacement of rescue equipment and protective gear. “As time passes the rescue equipment and protective gear for the crew must be evaluated to determine whether it must be reconditioned and replaced,” Williams said. “I am pleased that the Oakmont Fire Company received this grant because its volunteer firefighters provide the community with an invaluable service and we must ensure that they have reliable equipment.” The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development awarded the funding through its community-development projects program. |
