WILLIAMS ANNOUNCES BKL INCORPORATED OF KING OF PRUSSIA TO RECEIVE ENVIRONMENTAL GRANT

HARRISBURG, June 14, 2002 - - State Senator Connie Williams today announced that a grant will soon be awarded to BKL Incorporated of King of Prussia, Montgomery County, under the Pollution Prevention/Energy Efficiency Site Assessment Grant Program. BKL Inc. manufactures electroluminescence products used in cell phones and pagers. The program is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

The grant of $15,000 will be used to fund 80 percent of the total cost of a site assessment.

"Site assessments identify potential opportunities for preventing pollution by reducing waste, which is why I am pleased that this grant was awarded to BKL Inc.," Williams (D-Montgomery/Delaware) said.

A site team is made up of local Department of Environmental Protection professionals tailored to meet a facility’s particular needs.

Teams may be supplemented with professionals from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other Pennsylvania environmental assistance organizations to deliver a focused and specialized assessment.
