WILLIAMS ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF “MYMENTOR” MAGAZINE FOR STUDENTS PLANNING FOR HIGHER EDUCATION

HARRISBURG, June 16, 2003 - State Senator Connie Williams (D-Montgomery/Delaware) today announced that over 400,000 copies of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency’s (PHEAA) MyMentor Magazine have been distributed to high schools throughout the Commonwealth in order to help students plan for their higher education needs.

The magazine is targeted to 10th and 11th grade students, but is also useful for 9th graders and seniors. The publication provides students with information they need to begin planning their college experience, including admissions requirements, college and career choices, timelines, and financial aid options.

“This magazine is a great way for high school students to begin planning for their future,” Williams said.

“I hope many students will stop by their guidance counselor’s office to obtain a copy of the publication.”

The magazine also features detailed information on PHEAAmentor, which is PHEAA’s free interactive website (www.PHEAAmentor.org) that helps students plan for higher education and submit college admission and financial aid applications online. The PHEAAmentor website also hosts the world’s largest scholarship database of available free money.

Students may obtain a copy of the magazine through their guidance counselor or by calling Senator Williams’ district office at (610) 992-9790.

MyMentor Magazine is an annual publication that comes out each Spring.
