PROPERTY TAX/RENT REBATE DEADLINE EXTENDED HARRISBURG, JUNE 22 – State Sen. Connie Williams announced that the deadline to apply for Pennsylvania's expanded Property Tax/Rent Rebate program has been extended to Dec. 31st. The program is open to Pennsylvanians 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and people with disabilities who are 18 or older who meet income qualifications. Half of Social Security, Supplemental Security Income and Railroad Retirement Tier 1 benefits may be excluded when calculating annual income. “This Revenue Department program is funded through the Pennsylvania Lottery and is open to everyone who meets the qualifications,” Williams said. “It is not associated with public assistance.” Since the program's 1971 inception, $3.76 billion has been paid to qualified applicants. The expanded portion of the rebate program is being paid for with revenue from slots gaming. “This is a good program for individuals that qualify and I encourage people to apply,” Williams said. The expanded household income limits and rebate amounts are:
