GRANT AWARDED FOR CONSERVATION PROJECT HARRISBURG, JUNE 27 – State Sen. Connie Williams announced that a state grant had been awarded to acquire land in Radnor Township to create a greenway preserve. A $750,000 Community Conservation Partnerships Program grant was awarded to Natural Lands Trust to acquire approximately 140 acres near Newtown and Darby-Paoli roads in Radnor Township to create the Darby Creek Headwaters Greenway Preserve. "These grants allow the state to partner with local governments and organizations to conserve and to improve natural resources in our local communities," Williams said. "It is a prudent investment of state funds to safeguard the future viability of the many wonderful natural resources all Pennsylvanians enjoy." The grant program is administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' Bureau of Recreation and Conservation and is funded by Growing Greener Bond Fund (Growing Greener 2). Grants are available to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts and other nonprofit organizations for planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects. |
