STATE GRANTS AWARDED TO PROTECT ENVIRONMENTHARRISBURG, JULY 13 – State Sen. Connie Williams commended East Norriton Township and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission for taking an active role in safeguarding the environment and for securing state grants to assist their efforts. East Norriton Township was awarded an $80,617 Recycling Performance Grant for the municipality’s recycling effort in 2003. The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission was awarded a $65,000 air pollution control grant to educate the public in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties about ground ozone level pollution and the steps that can be taken to reduce the causes of ground level ozone. “Every citizen plays an important role in creating the environment of the future,” Williams said. “By recycling, learning about ozone, conserving water, or sponsoring a clean-up day, people are making a difference. The efforts put forth today will make a difference in the quality of life in Pennsylvania’s communities for future generations.” The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection awarded both grants. |
