WILLIAMS ANNOUNCES RECYCLING GRANT FOR PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP HARRISBURG, July 17, 2002 - - State Senator Connie Williams today announced that a grant was recently awarded to Plymouth Township under the Recycling Performance Grant Program. The program is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. The grant of $19,234 is based on the total tons recycled and the municipality’s overall recycling rate for Fiscal Year 2000. The Recycling Performance Grant Program helps Pennsylvania communities increase their recycling rates and reach Governor Schweiker’s statewide goals of recycling 35 percent of all municipal waste by 2003. The grant is in addition to the funds that the Department of Environmental Protection allocates to municipalities to establish and maintain recycling programs. "I am pleased that DEP has awarded this grant that will work to educate and promote recycling within Plymouth Township," Williams (D-Montgomery/Delaware) said. |
