WELSH MIDDLE SCHOOL RECEIVES GRANT

HARRISBURG, JULY 27 – The education system of tomorrow begins with ideas being implemented today, according to state Sen. Connie Williams.

“Today’s educators are teaching our future leaders,” Williams said. “The knowledge and skill sets they pass on to students will serve as the firm foundation students need to succeed in every field.”

According to Williams, it also is an educator’s challenge to integrate the latest technology into the classrooms as well.

Welsh Valley Middle School in Narberth (part of the Lower Merion School District) was selected for a $10,000 Hands on Learning mini-grant from the Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology.

The grant funds represent the opportunity for Principal Technology Leadership Academies participants to implement the strategies for technology integration at the teacher and student levels to directly impact student performance. Additionally, grant recipients will have opportunities to collaborate with each other, creating a statewide forum for technology practices in education.
