PENNSYLVANIA CABLE NETWORK COMING TO A STATION NEAR YOU HARRISBURG, JULY 27 – State Sen. Connie Williams said she was pleased that negotiations with Comcast and PCN – Pennsylvania Cable Network – had resulted in an agreement that will allow cable customers to access up-to-the-minute state news as it is happening. “For people not familiar with PCN, it is the cable station that broadcasts Senate and House session, legislative committee meetings, news from the governor and other government and state events,” Williams said. “This is an excellent resource for people, because it brings Harrisburg to your television set on real time. I have been working behind the scenes for some time to make this resource available to people in the 17th District. This announcement is great news for everyone interested in state government.” PCN is being added to Comcast’s Southeastern Pennsylvania channel line-up. PCN presents a variety of unedited live and same-day coverage of Pennsylvania Senate and House floor proceedings, committee hearings, high school sports championships, and visits to museums and manufacturing facilities in Pennsylvania. Broadcast across the entire Southeastern Pennsylvania network is expected to begin in the fall, but could be available in some areas sooner. Comcast subscribers are asked to check their local Comcast Cable information for details on when PCN will be available. “Comcast has been really good for our communities,” Williams said. “They already provide a free community bulletin board that lists local events that are important to many residents. Adding PCN is another part of their commitment to providing a high level of community service.” |
