ARTS GRANTS AWARDED IN 17TH DISTRICT

 HARRISBURG, Aug. 5 -- From music to poetry, visual arts and performing arts, Montgomery and Delaware counties are rich with opportunities for residents and visitors, according to state Sen. Connie Williams, who announced the awarding of a number of grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

 “Whether you participate in a particular type of art medium, or simply enjoy other people’s artistic talents, there is something for you just around the corner or in your own backyard,” Williams said. “Our region is rich in artistic opportunity, which adds a wonderful facet to the quality of life each of us can experience.”

 Grants were awarded to the following:

  • American Insight -- $3,187 – to support the organization

  • The Barnes Foundation -- $60,826 – to support the organization

  • Bryn Mawr College -- $2,635 – to support the college Office for the Arts

  • Israeli Film Festival -- $1,644 -- to support the festival

  • Main Line Art Center -- $27,178 – to support the center

  • Philadelphia Classical Symphony -- $6,644 – to support the symphony

  • Shipley School -- $875 to support a 20-day theater residency

  • Shirley Road Productions -- $3,352 – to support the organization

  • Summertrios, Inc. -- $2,295 – to support the organization

  • Theatre Ariel -- $2,848 – to support the theater

  • Villanova University Art Gallery -- $3,213 – to support gallery programs

  • Wayne Art Center -- $21,698 – to support art center programs
