RECYCLING GRANT AWARDED TO MONTGOMERY COUNTYHARRISBURG, AUG. 18 – Recycling saves space and adds years of life to landfills, which according to state Sen. Connie Williams allows Pennsylvania to protect valuable land resources and to ensure open space will be available for the future. “It all begins with recycling,” Williams said in acknowledging a grant that Montgomery County received to aid its recycling efforts. “Curbside recycling was unheard of just over two decades ago,” Williams said. “Most of today’s generation doesn’t remember a time when they didn’t have the opportunity to recycle. This is a credit to local municipalities and to the state for emphasizing the importance of recycling. It is important for the environment, for our economy and for the quality of life we enjoy.” Williams commended the people of Montgomery County for their efforts to recycle and for buying products made from recycled material. Montgomery County received a $26,532 grant from the state Department of Environmental Protection as reimbursement for administrative expenses of running its recycling program. |
