ARTS GRANTS AWARDED IN 17TH DISTRICT

HARRISBURG, AUG. 19 – From music to poetry, visual arts and performing arts, Montgomery and Delaware counties are rich with opportunities for residents and visitors, according to state Sen. Connie Williams, who announced the awarding of a number of grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

“Whether you participate in a particular type of art medium, or simply enjoy other people’s artistic talents, there is something for you just around the corner or in your own backyard,” Williams said. “Our region is rich in artistic opportunity, which adds a wonderful facet to the quality of life each of us can experience.”

Grants were awarded to the following:

  • Delaware County Symphony -- $3,751 – for support of the symphony

  • Main Line Art Center -- $1,711 – for support of visual arts classes for children and teens with special needs

  • Main Line Art Center -- $28,613 – for support of the art center

  • Villanova University -- $2,380 – for support of the university art gallery

  • Wayne Art Center -- $21,686 – for support of the art center

  • American Poetry Center -- $3,748 – for support of the center

  • The Barnes Foundation -- $60,515 – for support of the foundation

  • Bryn Mawr College -- $2,774 – for support of the college’s Office for the Arts

  • Norristown Area School District -- $2,664 – for support of a 12 day theatre residency

  • Philadelphia Classical Symphony -- $6,995 – for support of the symphony

  • Shirley Road Productions -- $3,942 – for support of the organization

  • Summertrios, Inc. -- $2,295 – for support of the organization

  • TFA Recordings Inc. -- $2,601 -- for support of the organization

  • Theatre Ariel -- $2,595 – for support of the theatre

  • Women’s Sekere Ensemble -- $3,133 – for support of the ensemble
