COMMUNITY CONSERVATION GRANT AWARDED

HARRISBURG, SEPT. 1 – State Sen. Connie Williams commended Montgomery County for taking action to create an open space management plan for the county.

“Montgomery County is home to many beautiful parks, historic sites, natural areas and greenways. An overall county plan ensures that all of the resources are given equal attention as well as allowing for county-wide marketing,” Williams said.

The county was awarded a $50,000 Community Conservation Partnerships Program grant by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Grants are to be used by local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts and other nonprofits for planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects.

Montgomery County will use the funds to prepare an open space management plan including management, maintenance and visitor services for the county-owned parks, historic sites, natural areas, trails and greenways.
