PCN NOW AVAILABLE ON LOCAL CABLE

HARRISBURG, SEPT. 1 – State Sen. Connie Williams today announced that Pennsylvania Cable Network, which provides coverage of the General Assembly, is now available to cable customers in portions of Montgomery and Delaware counties.

“PCN allows people to access up-to-the-minute state news as it is happening by broadcasting Senate and House sessions, legislative committee meetings and hearings, news from the governor and other government and state events,” Williams said. “I have been working behind the scenes for some time to make this resource available to the people in the 17th District.”

Williams, who was present at a news conference in July when an agreement between PCN and Comcast was announced, said she was pleased that PCN was being made available on Sept. 1st.

In addition to adding PCN to the digital lineup, local cable stations (with approval from the local municipality) can request “wrap-around” feed for portions of the day when those stations are not being used. Requests can be made this month, but must be made formally by the municipal government.

Local governments must vote to request PCN wrap-around coverage and then submit a resolution, along with a cover letter to Comcast.

PCN is available on a full-time basis to digital cable customers in Bucks, Chester and Montgomery counties on Channel 185. It is available full-time in the analog version on Channel 64 in Plymouth Township. It is available on the government channel on Channel 10 in Radnor and Haverford. It is available for wrap-around on Channel 22 in Upper Merion.

“From breaking state news to coverage of the Pennsylvania State Farm Show, Gettysburg battlefield walks and Punxsutawney Phil, PCN offers diverse coverage of the state,” Williams said. “With the addition of digital service, PCN is now available across Comcast’s entire Southeast region. I hope people will tune in and stay on top of the latest issues and news coming out of Harrisburg and across the state.”
