2006 SENIOR EXPO PLANNED

HARRISBURG, SEPT. 7 – State Sen. Connie Williams is pleased to announce a very special guest at her 2006 Senior Expo – Dr. Dan Gottlieb.

The 2006 Senior Expo is planned for Friday, Oct. 6th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Plymouth Meeting Mall.

"The Senior Expo has always been a great opportunity for older adults to learn about a variety of federal, state, county and local programs that they can use, but I think this year's event is going to be extra special with our guest speaker," Williams said. "Whether you've read his columns in the Philadelphia Inquirer, listened to his radio show on WHYY or read his books, you know what a motivational person Dr. Gottlieb is. He has a wonderful insight into what it means to be human."

Williams' annual Senior Expo continues to be a very popular event, providing information on programs and opportunities that people can use.

"It truly is one-stop shopping, which provides not only exhibits and information, but the opportunity for older adults to speak one-on-one with representatives of various groups and organizations," Williams said. "Those who attend can tailor the event to meet their own needs."

Once again the expo will feature a complimentary lunch and door prizes. Those who attend the event also have the opportunity to purchase Dr. Gottlieb's latest book: "Letters to Sam: A Grandfather's Lessons on Love, Loss and the Gifts of Life." His latest book is a collection of letters he wrote for his grandson, Sam who was diagnosed with autism when he was 14 months old. Dr. Gottlieb has consented to provide autographed books plates and will sign some books at the event. Royalties from the book benefit Cure Autism Now and other children's health organizations.

The event is free to all older adults in the 17th Senatorial District. Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP to one of Williams’ offices – in King of Prussia at 610-992-9790 or in Havertown at 610-853-5433.

The Plymouth Meeting Mall is on Germantown Pike, a quarter mile west of the Turnpike/I-476 Interchange. People are asked to use the “Storehouse Furniture” entrance, across from the old Ikea.
