PUBLIC COMMENT ON ARDMORE REVITALIZATION ACCEPTED ON SEPT. 20

HARRISBURG, Sept. 9 – State Sen. Connie Williams noted the changes proposed to the Ardmore train station and surrounding buildings were significant and encouraged residents and businesses to plan to attend and participate in a public forum, scheduled for Monday, Sept. 20th  at the Ardmore YMCA. The forum begins at 6 p.m.

“I’ve heard from many people about the proposed changes,” Williams said. “A majority of the comments have been against the revitalization proposal, which they believe will rob the community of not only some valuable retail and residential space that is currently being used, but could change the amount of traffic coming through the area.

“The public forum will give everyone an opportunity to voice their approval or disapproval.”

The Lower Merion Township Board of Commissioners hired Urban Land Institute to conduct a study of Ardmore. The study will take place Sept. 19th through Sept. 24th. Part of the study involves the public forum, which is being hosted by ULI on Sept. 20th and small group interviews with ULI panelists on Tuesday, Sept. 21st. Nearly 200 people are participating in the group interviews. The week will culminate with a public meeting on Friday, Sept. 24th from 9 a.m. to noon at the township building, during which ULI will share its findings.

“I encourage residents and businesses who are concerned with the revitalization proposal to not only attend, but participate in the public forum,” Williams said. “This is a unique opportunity for you to offer your point of view to a wider audience.”
