ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION GRANTS AWARDED

 HARRISBURG, SEPT. 20 – State Sen. Connie Williams announced that several grants geared toward educating students and the public about positive environmental stewardship were awarded in the 17th District.

 "Each one of us has a role to play in protecting the environment," Williams said. "Through environmental education programs we all can learn more about things we can do to make a difference in our own backyards and in our communities."

 Environmental Education Grants were awarded as follows:

  • Delaware County Conservation District -- $10,000 to continue a watershed education program throughout Delaware County to benefit public and non-public schools.

  • Haverford Township School District -- $1,495 to teach students about the benefits and detriments of pesticides, pests and beneficial insects at a nearby apple orchard.
