RECYCLING GRANTS AWARDEDHARRISBURG, SEPT. 23 – State Sen. Connie Williams, in announcing the awarding of state recycling grants, commended Radnor Township and Montgomery County for being good stewards of the environment. “The actions we take to recycle, reuse and preserve the natural environment today will determine what type of natural environment will exist for future generations,” Williams said. “It is so important that individuals, communities, counties and the state continue to stress environmental programs, such as recycling. These programs are having a positive impact on Pennsylvania’s environment.” Earlier this month, both Radnor Township and Montgomery County received state recycling grants. Radnor received a $130,942 grant under the Recycling Performance Grant Program based on the total tons recycled and the municipality’s overall recycling rate for 2002. Montgomery County received a $15,529 grant to reimburse a portion of the county recycling coordinator’s salary and expenses under the County Recycling Coordinator Grant Program. The Department of Environmental Protection administers the grant programs. |
