NARBERTH RECEIVES STATE GRANT FOR RECYCLING

HARRISBURG, OCT. 31 – State Sen. Connie Williams announced that Narberth's efforts to recycle have resulted in not only a cleaner environment, but also a financial boost from the state.

Narberth received a $10,350 grant based on the 513.4 tons recycled in 2005 and the municipality's population. Awarded by the Department of Environmental Protection, the Recycling Performance Grant Program offers incentives to help municipalities to increase the amount of materials recovered through recycling and to promote economic growth through job creation and market expansion.

"Recycling is a win-win situation for everyone," Williams said. "Not only does recycling safeguard the environment, but it also stimulates job growth and economic development across the state. One municipality at a time, Pennsylvania is working toward a healthy environment and stronger economy for the future."

The grant represents funds allocated by DEP in addition to those given to municipalities to establish and maintain recycling programs.
