DUAL ENROLLMENT GRANTS AWARDED IN 17TH DISTRICT HARRISBURG, NOV. 1 – State Sen. Connie Williams announced that students in the Haverford Township and Norristown Area school districts were among the 20,000 students in 228 school districts statewide to earn dual enrollment program grants. “These grants will allow high school students to begin taking core college courses before they graduate from high school,” Williams said. “This program is not for every high school student, but it provides a great option for those who are interested. Not only do they graduate from high school with college credits, but they have been exposed to college and are prepared to make an easier transition from high school to college.” In all, $5 million in dual enrollment grants were awarded to students to earn college credit in core academic courses, such as math, science, and English at 77 post secondary institutions, including 13 community colleges and 11 State System of Higher Education universities. |
