WILLIAMS HONORS LOCAL FIRE COMPANY FOR STATE AWARDHARRISBURG, NOV. 7 – When everyone else is running from a dangerous situation, firefighters leave their homes, don their equipment and resolutely walk toward the situation with thoughts of saving lives and protecting property. This past weekend, state Sen. Connie Williams honored one of her local fire companies – King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company – for receiving a statewide award. King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company was again chosen (for the 10th consecutive year) by the Fireman’s Association of the State of Pennsylvania to receive the Robert Little Memorial Fire Safety Award. The award is given annually to a Pennsylvania fire company or fire department that provides outstanding service in educating the public about fire safety. Williams provided the fire company with a citation from the Senate of Pennsylvania for receiving the award and offered best wishes for continued success. “Firefighters, as a group, must be given credit for the service they provide to their communities,” Williams said. “It is especially laudable when a fire company is selected by a statewide firefighter association to be honored for service. King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company has earned this award for 10 consecutive years, which truly speaks to the dedication of the members of this company in reaching out to educate the public about fire safety.” Each year, the fire company develops a program that addresses fire causes and offers basic training in fire safety for children and special risk groups. Company members also work with local businesses, as well as the schools, in an effort to reduce fire incidents and losses in Upper Merion Township. “I give the company credit for making public education a priority,” Williams said. “Every member of the fire company participates in this role, as well as working to raise money to fund new equipment, attend training and be available to help out during emergencies.” “The men and women of King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company – as well as the other fire companies and departments in Pennsylvania – deserve the thanks of every resident of the Commonwealth,” Williams said. |
