NEW CAREER AND COLLEGE PLANNING WEB SITE LAUNCHED

HARRISBURG, NOV. 9 – State Sen. Connie Williams noted that middle school and high school students should consider bookmarking a new Web site, which is designed to help them investigate careers, locate schools that offer appropriate programs, and access links to 1.6 million scholarships, grants and awards.

The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency recently launched a new career and college planning Web site, EducationPlanner.org, which provides a host of interactive tools and links.

“This Web site is a virtual one stop shop for all aspects of career and education planning,” Williams said. “It is a wonderful tool to be used in conjunction with the services provided by school guidance counselors.”

The site includes links to a personality assessment test, information on hundreds of careers (including salary data), assistance in preparing for the PSAT, SAT and ACT, tips on how to find the right college and choose a major, nationwide college searches, special information for athletes, adult students and for students with handicaps or disabilities. The extensive student aid information includes a scholarship search and links to 1.6 million scholarships, grants and awards totaling almost $7 billion.

Williams has obtained copies of a brochure on the new Web site and will make them available through her district offices, which are located at 700 S. Henderson Road, Suite 100A in King of Prussia and in the Manoa Shopping Center, Suite 39, 1305 West Chester Pike in Havertown.
