HISTORICAL GRANTS AWARDED IN THE 17^TH DISTRICT

 HARRISBURG, NOV. 9 – State Sen. Connie Williams today announced that three organizations in the 17^th Senatorial District were among those selected to receive grants from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

 Grants were awarded to museums and official county historical societies to support general operations.

 The following were awarded grants:

• Elmwood Park Zoo, Norristown -- $70,500

• Historical Society of Montgomery County, Norristown -- $10,000

 “The organizations selected for grants are doing a wonderful job of preserving our past,” Williams said. “The history of Pennsylvania’s communities is the history of its residents and an important key to its future. It is critical that we preserve that history. I applaud the efforts of the many people who are officers or volunteer with their local historical organization.”
