TOYS FOR TOTS DROP-OFF AVAILABLE AT SEN. CONNIE WILLIAMS’ OFFICES HARRISBURG, NOV. 12 – With the approach of the holiday season, state Sen. Connie Williams has decided to provide a new service to her constituents and has secured permission to open her offices as drop-off locations for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation program. “Each year, Toys for Tots collects millions of toys for needy children across the country, ensuring these children have a bright holiday morning,” Williams said. “By picking up one or two extra toys during holiday shopping, people can make millions of children happy during the holidays – one toy at a time.” The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a 57 year tradition of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and is a registered not-for-profit public charity. The mission of the program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December of each years and distribute those toys as holiday gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign was conducted. “The message is simple – ‘to deliver hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders,’” Williams said. “Children are our most valuable gift, and while toys may not be a necessity, just think how a child will feel knowing that their friends and school-mates will be receiving gifts on a special holiday and they will not.” Unwrapped children’s gifts can be deposited in the barrels at either of Williams’ offices, which are located at 700 S. Henderson Road, Suite 100A, King of Prussia and in the Manoa Shopping Center, Suite 39, 1305 W. Chester Pike, Havertown, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. “I can’t imagine another way that one extra gift during holiday shopping could mean so much to someone in the community,” Williams said. “I am happy to be able to open my offices for this wonderful program.” |
