LOWER MERION POLICE RECEIVE FUNDING FOR EQUIPMENT

HARRISBURG, November 13, 2002 - - State Senator Connie Williams (D-Delaware/Montgomery) announced today the Lower Merion Police Department will receive $5,000 for equipment from the Department of Community and Economic Development.

"The Lower Merion Police Department requested funding for equipment that will help outfit and train police officers," Williams said. "Since September 11, 2001, more agencies are looking to upgrade their security measures and Lower Merion is no exception."

Williams said the purchases include office equipment, gas masks for the department's Civil Disobedience Team, and finally, training programs meant to train officers as realistically as possible in case of a terrorist incident.
