WILLIAMS RE-ELECTED TO SENATE LEADERSHIP POST

HARRISBURG, NOV. 20 – State Sen. Connie Williams today was re-appointed by Senate Leadership and her Democratic colleagues to serve as Senate Caucus Administration for the 2007-08 Legislative Session.

The appointment marks the second term that she will hold the leadership post.

“I am again honored by this appointment,” Williams said. “During the 2005-06 Legislative Session, I was able to get more involved in a leadership role and to work more closely with my colleagues. During the new session, I will advocate for a legislative agenda that is responsive to the values and needs of the people that I represent and to other Pennsylvanians.

"Now is the time to take a closer look at how government operates and the role legislators play in promoting good policy, whether that be for education, the environment or good government," Williams said.

The leadership role will provide Williams the opportunity to more directly influence the caucus positions on important state issues.

Leadership elections were held during a meeting of the Democratic Caucus in Harrisburg today.
