WILLIAMS ANNOUNCES GRANT FOR LOWER MERION SENIOR CENTER HARRISBURG, November 26, 2002 - - State Senator Connie Williams today announced that the Lower Merion Senior Center received a $5,000 grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development. The grants will be used to fund a part-time Administrative Assistant position. "Since it was established in Ardmore 26 years ago, the Lower Merion Senior Center has been providing supportive programs and services to help the elderly stay in their homes and live full, independent lives," Williams (D-Montgomery/Delaware) said. "I am pleased that the Center received this grant so that its daily administrative operations can run more smoothly." Lower Merion Senior Center’s programs include chef-prepared lunches and holiday parties, grocery shopping assistance, health and wellness services, legal assistance, computer education, and trips to therapeutic massages. Many members also enjoy participating in the glee club and attending classes in creative writing, jewelry making, bridge, Spanish, music appreciation, crafts, and line dancing.
