WILLIAMS ANNOUNCES $1 MILLION GRANT FOR COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTER IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY

HARRISBURG, Dec. 12, 2001 -- A $1 million community development grant will allow construction of a new recreation center in Lower Providence Township, Montgomery County, state Sen. Constance H. Williams said today.

"Recreation centers like the one planned in Lower Providence are where communities strengthen and growth," Williams (D-Montgomery/Delaware) said.

The General Washington Community Recreation Center will include an ice rink, a pool, a banquet facility, and a twin-deck driving range and practice facility. The driving range will be added to an existing 18-hole golf course.

"This is an important project that will improve the quality of life for Lower Providence citizens of all ages," Williams said. "I’m proud to see this kind of community development progressing."
